Wagner's Beer Hall

Wagner's Beer Hall
Wagner's Beer Hall, which today is simply known as The Saloon, opened back in 1861. It’s been in continuous operation ever since, making it San Francisco's oldest saloon. The saloon here survived the Great Earthquake of 1906 and all those fires that followed through a stroke of good luck because more than the water on the other side of Telegraph Hill, there is a navy frigate. And they run a hose pipe right over the top of the hill down into this area to pump water from the Bay to help fight the fires here. That's what helped save The Saloon here. If you go inside today, you'll see the interior pretty much as it was back in the 1870s including the original wooden bar from 1861.
