Broadway & The Condor Club

Broadway & The Condor Club
Back in the 1960s, Broadway here was a bustling entertainment center full of jazz clubs. And in 1964, the Condor Club here opens and it was the first topless bar in all of the United States. The lady who did this first topless performance was called Carol Doda. She was nicknamed the new Twin Peaks of San Francisco. Just two years after her first performance, there are some 30 topless bars that had popped up in Broadway, some of which you can still see there today, and this little plaque on the wall here remembers how the Condor Club pushed things one step further.  In 1969, they did the first bottomless performance. In for a penny, in for a pound, that's what I say.
