Broadway
We're here in the top end of the Broadway theater district where, interestingly, you don't have to be on the Broadway Street here to be an official Broadway theater. There's actually some 39 Broadway theaters spread out between 6th and 8th Avenues. So what does make a Broadway theater? Well, you have to have more than 500 seats and show large productions with professional stars and actors. Then you have Off-Broadway theaters. They're a little bit smaller - between 100 and 500 seats - and they're a little bit less mainstream shows. Then you even have Off-Off-Broadway theaters, and they're really tiny, less than 100 seats. They're more for low-budget experimental works. So technically that means that you can have an Off-Broadway theater on Broadway.
