20 The Charging Bull of Wall Street

The Charging Bull of Wall Street

The Charging Bull of Wall Street
Amongst the crowd of people back there we can find a three-ton bronze bull that was originally a guerilla work part that was dumped underneath the Christmas tree at the New York Stock Exchange back in 1989. It's supposed to symbolize the powerful yet slightly belligerent and unpredictable force of the stock exchange. Well, the police weren't having any of it. They took the statue away and impounded it. But then later it was installed in its current location here, just at the top end of Bowling Green Park. And over the years, it's become a hugely popular tourist attraction. A strange tradition has grown up here over the years. People believe it's good luck to touch the bull's testicles. Today you'll find otherwise normal people all queued up trying to get underneath the bull's bottom and have their photo taken with the testicles. Maybe I’ll have a go myself. There's nothing wrong with that.
